How do I get a eTA for Canada?

What is required to apply for Canada eTA?

Canada ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) became indispensable when traveling to Canada.
From 15th March 2016, the Canadian Government obliged online visa application for visas to travelers traveling to Canada on a flight route to Canada.
(The grace period extended until November 29, 2016)

 " Note: Until September 29, 2016, travellers who do not have an eTA can board their flight, as long as they have a valid passport., During this leniency period, border services officers can let let travelers arriving without an eTA into the country, as long as they meet the other requirements to enter Canada. It is said that it was introduced smoothly when applying for eTA at the time of immigration review, and it was introduced to lead dangerous people such as terrorists to early detection.

Canada eTA once you apply it can last up to 5 years, or until the expiration date of your passport.
Since it will be linked with your passport, you will not expired to apply for this opportunity even though it is an exemption period.
You can stay for up to 90 days with one visit and sightseeing.

The fee can be applied at 7 Canadian dollar.
Please prepare 3 points of passport, credit card and e-mail address necessary for application.

The Canada eTA application form has been updated since March 7, 2017.
Since there was a change in the application page, I created an application method / entry example.
Please refer for yourself when applying for Canada eTA.

There is no particular impact on those who applied for before March 7 when the form was updated.
Please also refer to the case of reapplying after expiration date.

3. E-mail address (preferably for personal computer, Yahoo mail, Gmail etc.)

Only the above three points are necessary for application.
For the e-mail address, it is more certain that you entered the address for PC into the application form.

When you make your selection, click "Next" to move to the next page.

For passengers and those who do normal sightseeing and short-term business, ordinary passport "ordinary / regular" applies.

Enter the passport number with uppercase English and half-width numbers.


Enter Applicant Information ①

Enter the applicant's name, date of birth, gender, birth country / city in order.
Please refer to the image and select the appropriate one for the selected part.

Enter the applicant's occupation

Enter the applicant's occupation by referring to the image.
Please select the best option that you are currently using for this item.

When entering necessary information input, be sure to input with half-width alphabets.


Enter contact address and details

Select the language to receive Canada eTA application results.
You can receive it in either English or French.

Next, enter the e-mail address.
※ E-mail address must be valid one.
The reason for recommending PC's address is because mail from Canada is automatically judged as junk mail when using the address used for mobile phones.


Enter the address information of the applicant

You can enter the image as a reference and it is OK even if the unnecessary item part is blank.


Answer questions asked by Canada

We need answer questions asked by the Canadian government.
If you make a mistake here, the application will not approve so please select the  carefully.


Consent and declaration

Since consent and declaration sentences are listed, read there and check the check box.

Applicant information will be registered with this information if all information is not defective.
Click "Proceed to Payment" and move on to the credit card payment screen.

Payment of Canada eTA fees

Canada eTA application fee will be paid.
Please confirm the applicant's name and payment fee and proceed to the payment screen.

Please enter the "Transmit and Pay"


Make a credit card payment

On the next screen enter the credit card number and make the settlement.

Enter credit card information.
Next, Enter the card number exactly.

Application with Canada eTA is now complete.
To the e-mail address entered in the form, the Canadian government will send you an e-mail with the result of electronic certification application.
Please keep that approval  mail carefully.
